Review: Sea Ridge Chardonnay – 100% Drinkable!

You’ve probably spotted this one on the bottom shelf at your local grocery store with a price somewhere under $4.  Four dollar wine?  I figured there was a decent chance I might go blind from drinking the cheap stuff but in the name of science (and cheapskatedness) I thought I’d give it a try.  Because of the inherent danger involved in drinking this stuff I thought it prudent to slip Amy the first glass (who’d update Grocery Wine if I didn’t survive?).  Here’s how it went down:

Phil: Hey honey, want a glass of chardonnay?
Amy:  Sure, what kind is it?
Phil:  Sea Ridge Chardonnay
Amy:  Is it supposed to be good?
Phil:  Did you hear Lithuania elected its first female president?

The final verdict:  Surprisingly drinkable!  It’s definitely sweeter than you’d expect from a chardonnay but still tasty.  Perhaps the perfect wine for sipping on the patio or deck on a hot summer day.  Give it a try and let us know your thoughts in the comments.

I agree. Was looking for a cheap little domestic drinkable sipping wine that would not make me go blind and I really like it. It’s a great little every day wine.

I brought back a few bottles of wine from California this summer. I thought this was an excellent Chardonnay! Very impressed – esp. the price!

Dollar for dollar it’s tough to beat!

This stuff even ages well… We had friends move overseas and we got all their wine. We found a 2001 Sea Ridge Chardonnay and were taking bets on it’s drinkability. I’m not normally a Chardonnay fan, but this was absolutely delicious. So does this mean that you should buy cheap wine and let it sit for years? 🙂 I might just have to start doing that…

Ha! That’s awesome! I’m going to have to hide a bottle in the back of a cabinet somewhere 🙂

I tried this just to see whether it woukd be a “smooth” chardonnay I could drink, or if it was a “rip your face off” chardonnay. It was very tasty, smooth, and completely palatable. I will buy it again.

I was buying Sea Bridge Chardonay at my local Von’s grocery store, and liked it, but Von;s does not handle it anymore. Can you tell me who would handle this wine in the Newport Beach area, like Costa Mesa, etc.? My postal zip code is 92660. Many thanks.

A 2015. Very nice, esp. for the price

Hard to go wrong with CALIFORNIA WINE

Just purchased a bottle of 2019 Sea Ridge Chardonnay at Vons for $2.19. Nice to see the good reviews. My thought was for $2.19, it might be worth a headache…
